Biofilms in Industrial
Cooling Water Systems
As a final conclusion,
biofilms are a real disaster in a cooling water system.
They are :
 | Corrosive due to the SRB
(Sulfate Reducing Bacteria) presence. |
 | The SRB is protected from
the other bacteria |
 | After biofilms
establishment and became mature, are infecting other parts of the system, by
transporting ready organized colonies. This procedure is clogging the
system, creating difficulties in flow and heat exchange. |
 | Are dangerous to human,
because at the millions of species living into biofilm, many of them are
pathogenic. |
