Cost and efficiency. Under normal application conditions an efficient scale crystal distorter program will provide 100% protection of the system from scales. For every specific polymer, the protection performance is analog to its concentration. If overfeed is acting very fast, blocking the crystal formation at the early stages, so the water becomes turbid. If underfeed the protection achieved will be almost analog to the concentration. A crystal distorter, even slightly overfeed, is cost effective treatment.
