Formation of tricalcium phosphate
To calculate theoretically the pH of
Saturation of trlcaldum Phosphate of a known water quality:
|
Step 1
-
Obtain Calcium Factor from Table 1.
|
TABLE 1.
Calcium Factor for Calculation of pHS of
tricalcium Phosphate

|
Step 2 -
Obtain Phosphate Factor from Table 2.
|
TABLE 2
Phosphate Factor for Calculation of pHs of Tricalcium
Phosphate

|
| Step 3 -
Total factors from steps 1 and 2 : Enter table 3 at correct
temperature range
— Read pHs
from left column.
|
TABLE 3
pH Temp. Factor for Calculation, of Trlcalcium
Phosphate DH-Temperature formation

|
Analysis:
- If the actual pH is less than pH
s,
Ca3(PO4)2 will tend to go Into
solution.
If the actual pH equals pHs,
water is balanced.
If the actual pH exceeds the pHs,
Ca3(PO4)2 will tend to
precipitate.
