Use CATALYTIC SULFITE® is a free flowing, powder-form, catalyzed oxygen scavenger that combines chemically with dissolved oxygen in feedwater or in the boiler to inhibit the formation of oxygen-induced corrosion, including pitting. It is especially formulated to be used in all food plants, except dairies and meat packing facilities.
Features Ø Rapid reaction rate with oxygen. Ø Protects deaerator storage section and feedwater lines.
Ø
Prevents boiler pitting
corrosion. Appearance tan to off white powder Bulk density (kg/m 3 ) : 1600 Solubility (20°C) : 20% pH (1% solution) : 9.5 to 10.5 These data are to be seen as typical values and should not be considered as specifications.
Dosage - Control Dosage is usually 0.8 ppm of CATALYTIC SULFITE® per ppm of oxygen in boiler feedwater. However, dosages will vary considerably depending upon the feedwater temperature, type of boiler operation, type of heater or deaerator, air leakage into the system, etc.
CATALYTIC SULFITE® is normally controlled so that a residual of 30 to 60 mg/L of sodium sulfite is maintained in the boiler water. Feeding CATALYTIC SULFITE® is best fed continuously by chemical metering pumps into the deaerator storage section. However, the ordinary boiler treatment feeding methods such as simple shot feeders can be used with diminished effectiveness. Handling precautions
However, inhalation of dust should be avoided and the solution should not be swallowed. Before use review the Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information.
