Elastic film corrosion inhibitors During the last decades, due to the experience with chromates, the common practice was to try to improve the hardness of the film that a corrosion inhibitor was performing onto the metal surfaces. It was considered that as hard the film it is, due to its density, so resistant will be to chemical attack and to mechanical attrition. Unfortunately the hard film was disadvantageous in cases of : • moderate erosion conditions, • vibration or cavitation conditions • corrosive environments combined with temperature excursions
