CLOSED HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS CORROSION INHIBITOR
DESCRIPTION
PRODUCT
USES:
BENEFITS· Controls corrosion of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Protects most metals, including sweated copper lines, in chilled and hot water systems from corrosive attack. · Superior corrosion inhibition. · Scale control agent · Minimizes heat-absorbing sludge and mineral scale deposits in system. · Remains effective at temperatures of 300o F and above. · Helps extend equipment life. · Reduces maintenance time and costs. · Does not affect non-metallic materials in cooling systems. · Low toxicity, easy to handle and apply. ·
· Compatible with most corrosion inhibitors, antifreeze solutions and alcohol. · Colourless, non-staining. The “D” version includes a special dye for early detection of problems such as leaks and acidity. · Low cost treatment
TECHNOLOGY BEHINDS
The potential for corrosion is high in closed systems and is controlled by using high levels of products containing borate/nitrate, molybdate, and sometimes silicates or organic corrosion inhibitors. If corrosion isn't controlled, abrasive metal oxides (iron and/or copper) form that can cause pump impellers and seals to fail. They also form deposits that can interfere with water flow and heat transfer. A cleaning solution can be used as a remedial treatment to dissolve and/or suspend metal oxides. Closed systems, especially those treated with borate/nitrate or all-organic corrosion inhibitors, are subject to bacterial growth because these compounds are used as food. If such growth is allowed to progress unchecked, it can form slime deposits that reduce water flow, interfere with heat transfer, and generate under-deposit corrosion problems. It is best to control the bacteria by adding a non-oxidizing biocide.
Molybdate-based products that are particularly effective at controlling corrosion EVEN UNDER in static conditions
DOSAGETreatment should be used in sufficient quantity to maintain 80-120 PPM as Molybdate. Feed rate is 1200 to 1800 gr/cubic meter of system volume. Adjustments in dosages can be made on the basis of plant analyses performed with simple test equipment. Consult Your Water Services Ltd. consultant for the proper dosage To assure a clean system that is free of both corrosion and scale deposits, the following dosages are recommended. · Chilled Water Systems: is 1200 to 1500 gr/cubic meter of system volume · Hot Water Systems: is 1200 to 1800 gr/cubic meter of system volume
FEEDINGWSC 8170 is non-corrosive to ordinary metals used in feeding devices. Feed WSC 8170 to system with any type of by-pass feeder or proportional pump.
